Jon Žagar

Jon Žagar needed a professional portfolio with a refined, quiet visual character that kept his photographs at the centre of the viewing experience. The design challenge was to present distinct series and different image formats within a coherent website, while allowing visitors to focus on the work.

I designed and built a bilingual portfolio with a white background, restrained typography and generous spacing. The main gallery preserved the photographs’ proportions, accommodating both portrait and landscape formats without forcing them into a uniform crop.

The content was organised by series, with enlarged gallery views for browsing the photographs and individual pages for examining works and their accompanying information. A concise navigation connected the portfolio with the artist’s statement, exhibition history and contact details.

The result was an understated professional presentation that supported both an overview of Jon’s practice and closer viewing of individual photographs. Standard WordPress editing gave him a familiar way to maintain the portfolio, in line with his preference for a straightforward solution.
