Artopolis: Photography and Packing
Artists using Artopolis needed reliable guidance on photographing their work for online presentation and preparing it for transport. The challenge was to provide detailed, professionally informed instructions while making the procedures accessible and establishing clear standards for documentation and packing.
Jan Dolar and I worked together on the content. We co-wrote a comprehensive, carefully structured set of instructions covering photographic documentation and protective packing. The material addressed different types of artwork, cameras and smartphones, lighting conditions, packing materials and the construction of protective packaging and transport containers.
I demonstrated and explained the procedures on camera, recorded the audio instructions and designed the accompanying PDFs. Jan handled video filming and editing. The resulting resource comprised 20 instructional modules, each available in Slovenian and English across all three formats: video, audio and PDF. Detailed explanations, practical demonstrations and reference documents allowed artists to follow the procedures and consult individual steps while working.
These instructions gave artists a dependable practical resource and Artopolis a documented basis for communicating requirements and assessing whether they had been met. Making the expected procedures explicit helped clarify responsibilities and reduce ambiguity around the quality of photographs and the adequacy of packaging.
