AGRFT80

For its 80th anniversary, the University of Ljubljana’s Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television needed to bring photographs, texts, audio and video into an interactive online exhibition. The challenge was to make this varied archival material accessible to visitors while giving archivists practical tools to prepare and publish it within a short deadline.

Working directly with the academy’s archive team, I developed the web concept, design and programming around the exhibition concept by Simona Ješelnik. A custom editorial environment separates content preparation from publication and supports work with batches of media. On the public side, multimedia viewing, search and links between records give visitors several ways to explore the material, including recommendations based on their interests. Collaboration with illustrator Sara Jagodic also brought illustrated characters into a game I developed for the exhibition.

The archivists began working with an early version while development continued. Regular shared sessions allowed us to test functions through their actual work, resolve difficulties and incorporate needs that emerged during preparation.

The resulting exhibition connects public exploration with a working editorial system, allowing the archive team to organise and publish diverse materials and visitors to follow connections across the academy’s history.
