Crack Up – Crack Down

The 33rd Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts, Crack Up – Crack Down, brought together an international exhibition and an extensive accompanying programme. The communication challenge was to make this range of activity accessible online while giving the artists’ ideas and specialist discussions the depth they required.

For MGLC, I developed and delivered a video campaign covering the biennial programme, combining interviews with international artists, programme coverage and shorter promotional clips. Preparing the conversations, editing the material and publishing the videos connected the substance of the exhibition with formats suited to digital communication. Short excerpts introduced individual ideas and participants, while longer conversations allowed viewers to explore their work and its wider context.

The campaign included my in-depth interview with Amy Whitaker on art economics, the Slovenian art market and the business realities of artistic practice. Whitaker later acknowledged my contribution in her book Economics of Visual Art.

Alongside video production, I advised on digital promotion. The resulting body of work supported communication throughout the biennial and preserved its conversations and activities in an accessible online archive.
