Molat Colony

Molat Colony is a video work about an imagined residency on an Adriatic island devoted to rest, without planning or producing art. It revisits an unrealised proposal from 2006 and its central paradox: even speaking about non-work involves work, while addressing it through art also requires production.

I contributed to the video’s concept and realisation, and filmed and edited the work. The video was produced by Maska Ljubljana and Cona in 2023.

The work places rest within a broader reflection on the value assigned to work, the demand for constant production and our relationship with the environment. The idea of an island retreat also raises questions about leisure as part of the tourism industry. The video holds open the tension between the desire not to work and the work required to articulate that desire.
